Larry Walshe approached the design of this contemporary wedding at Château de la Messardière in St Tropez with a vision rooted in understated luxury and architectural elegance. Set against the sweeping Provençal landscape, the ceremony was conceived as a serene, modern installation that appeared to emerge organically from the gardens.
A long reflective water aisle became the central design statement, bordered by sculptural arrangements of soft white florals that created the illusion of blooms growing naturally along the water’s edge. Minimalist ivory seating and clean-lined terraces ensured that the surrounding pine forests, hills, and Mediterranean light remained an integral part of the visual narrative.
The floral design focused on texture, movement, and tonal harmony rather than colour, using delicate white blossoms and airy foliage to create a contemporary interpretation of classic romance. Abundant floral clusters framed the altar in an asymmetrical, garden-inspired composition, softening the strong linear geometry of the water feature and drawing the eye toward the ceremony focal point. The restrained palette of white, cream, and soft green allowed the natural blues of the water and sky to subtly punctuate the scene, reinforcing the calm and sophisticated atmosphere Larry Walshe envisioned for the ceremony.
