5 MINUTES WITH….LARRY WALSHE
Celebrity florist, Larry Walshe, will take on the challenge to design one quarter of our 2017 entrance installation, ‘Disruptive Dining.’ We had a quick chat with Larry to find out his plans…
Describe a typical day for Larry Walshe
The wonderful thing about my job is that no two days are ever the same. Around 4 days per week I wake early and visit the flower market to buy for the weddings and parties we are creating that week. I then spend much of my time meeting clients, creating schemes, teaching or onsite ensuring the delivery of each and every project.
Can you give us a brief description of your plans for the entrance at Decorex?
We are planning to create a really exciting installation using thousands of fresh flower stems to work against light, mirror and a custom-created Fromental wallpaper design to result in a multi-dimensional and incredibly luxurious piece.
How did you get into floristry?
After studying retail & interior design and years working in the weddings & events industry, my move into floristry was actually a rather organic one. Flowers are such a wonderful and forgiving medium to work with and I use them in the same way an artist would paint. The ever changing varieties and their seasonal availability ensures that my work is constantly evolving and no two projects are ever the same.
