Larry Walshe conceived an unforgettable 60th birthday celebration at 74 Wythe in Brooklyn, transforming the rooftop venue into a glamorous, high-energy environment inspired by the interplay of light, reflection, and the city skyline. Drawing from the visual drama of mirrored spheres and disco balls suspended across the ceiling, the design embraced a contemporary interpretation of classic nightclub glamour.
Layers of reflective orbs captured and refracted vibrant washes of magenta, violet, and electric blue lighting, creating a luminous canopy above the dance floor that immediately set the tone for an evening of celebration.
The guest experience unfolded through a series of thoughtfully styled lounge and entertainment spaces. Plush purple velvet banquettes paired with shimmering silver and teal cushions created intimate seating areas, softened by lush green planting that added natural texture against the industrial architecture of the venue. Candlelit accents in sculptural glass vessels introduced warmth and sophistication, while sleek acrylic tables and modern furnishings kept the aesthetic crisp and contemporary. The design balanced the energetic nightclub atmosphere with comfortable moments of relaxation, ensuring the space felt both luxurious and inviting.
