THE
BRIEF

English cricket captain Joe Root and his wife-to-be wanted to create a white winter wedding that was both stylish and unique at the character filled Thornbridge Hall venue, deep in the heart of the English Peak District. They wanted to include a touch of Christmas, ensure a new look was shown at every part of the guest journey and keep the biggest statement was realised as guests moved into the glass conservatory for dinner.

Our bride-to-be loved cherry blossom and white roses and wanted to ensure a dramatic design so we began looking at magical woodland inspired floral designs that would incorporate both of these ingredients whilst our scenic designers began drawing inspiration from glamorous American weddings filled with elegant drapery to add softness and romance to a space filled with exposed brickwork and dark red joinery.

The Final Creation

The wedding started at an intimate local church filled with character and English charm in the heart of the Peak District. As the start of our wedding journey, we created an enormous asymmetrical wedding arch design from a mix of winter foliages to reach overhead and create a huge statement. We then filled the church with hundreds and hundreds of candles, including the brides favourite Jo Malone scent of Blush Suede & Peony.

The bride wore Suzanne Neville and iconic Manolo Blahnik shoes. Not to be outshone, the groom wore a bespoke velvet trimmed tuxedo by McCann Bespoke Tailors with custom patent shoes, as did all of the groomsmen. The bridal bouquet was then created using textures of white to compliment both wardrobe choices and included white avalanche roses, fragrant freesia & white anemones. Thornbridge Hall, a grand yet quirky manor house set atop a hill with the most impressive gardens and views played host to the wedding breakfast and late night celebrations. Christmas trees adorned with soft white lights filled the interior and gave a nod to the festive season for guests to enjoy whilst they sipped on winter inspired bespoke cocktails.

Whilst guests celebrated, our team of expert florists and scenic designers took the traditional interior of the conservatory and added both magic and flair to result in a romantic and enchanted wonderland. Our set build team draped throughout to create billowing curtains tied back with hundreds of fresh white roses. They then built a new façade to the venue’s own stage to remove the existing red décor and built a new chic white stage for the pianist to perform atop during dinner. This gave our floral team the perfect canvas upon which to add their magic. A gigantic floral chandelier took pride of place in the centre of the room above which, guests dined. Measuring an impressive 3m tall, this piece weighted in at a whopping 250kg to ensure a show-stopping moment!

Delicate blossom trees dressed further with thousands of fresh white roses nestled the tables alongside crystal accessories to ensure a magical setting. Ensuring visual variety throughout, low table designs formed using cut crystal accessories nestled by hundreds of beautiful white roses offered guests a wonderfully luxurious dining experience. Napkins gently scented with Jo Malone Blush Suede & Peony then radiated a soft scent throughout, a signature of any great Larry Walshe Studios wedding. As guests dined under a perfect starry night sky, a field of flames in the courtyard outside offered a further layer of the detail and interest whilst the dulcet tones of a baby white grand piano played. A perfect setting within which the most magical of memories were made!
